The illegal transportation of a large sum of money in the car of the village accountant occurred today (Friday) near Halagatti village in Ramadurga taluk of Belagavi district.
A staggering 1 Crore 10 Lakhs was found in the village accountant’s car without any accompanying documents. The raiding police intercepted the vehicle at the check post of Halagatti village and confiscated the entire amount.
The village accountant, Vitthala Shivappa Dhavleswar from Nippani, was transporting money in his car. It has been revealed that the money was being illegally transported from Belagavi to Bagalkot.
Acting on a tip-off, the Ramadurg police conducted a raid and successfully seized the cash. The case has now been handed over to the Income Tax authorities for further investigation.
