The Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislature will convene at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi from December 9 to 19, (Earlier it was scheduled to end on December 20) Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader announced during a press briefing at the Circuit House in Mangaluru on Thursday.
Speaker Khader explained that the session’s duration is aligned with the schedule of the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in Mandya, prompting its conclusion on December 19. However, he noted that the decision to potentially extend the session would be taken on December 9 in a meeting chaired by the Speaker and attended by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, Law Minister, political leaders, and leaders of the opposition parties.
Highlighting the importance of discussions on the state’s progress, especially concerning North Karnataka, Khader called for collaboration between the ruling and opposition parties. “The session must focus on the development of the region while respecting the sentiments of its people,” he emphasized.
The Suvarna Soudha, a symbol of Karnataka’s commitment to equitable regional development, is expected to host significant deliberations on policies and projects benefiting the northern part of the state.
