Belagavi City Corporation: Huge e-Khata Mela from Feb. 24

Belagavi City Corporation has announced a massive e-Khata Mela starting February 24 at Kumar Gandharva Kala Mandir to streamline issuing ‘A’ and ‘B’ account e-Khatas.

Municipal Commissioner Shubh B. urged property owners to submit the necessary documents to obtain their e-Khatas without hassle. The initiative follows the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Bengaluru, on February 17, 2025, which mandates that all pending properties within urban local bodies across the state should be issued e-Khatas within three months.

Documents Required for e-Khata

For ‘A’ Register Properties:

  • Ownership Proof: Registered sale deeds, donation deeds, division deeds, right deeds issued by government agencies, sanction letters, or revenue department-issued right deeds under 94 C.C.
  • Additional Documents:
    • Certified site release letter from a competent authority
    • Debt clearance certificate (up to the current year)
    • Latest property tax payment receipt
    • Owner’s photo & property photo
    • Copy of owner’s identity proof

For ‘B’ Register Properties:

  • Ownership Proof: Sale deeds, donation deeds, partition deeds, or claim release deeds registered before March 10, 2024.
  • Additional Documents:
    • Debt clearance certificate (up to the current year)
    • Latest property tax payment receipt
    • Owner’s photo & property photo

Commissioner Shubh B. has urged all eligible property owners to take advantage of this special camp to complete their e-Khata formalities easily and efficiently.

What is the difference between A Khata and B Khata properties?

The differences between A Khata and B Khata properties are, A Khata properties are legal and comply with all building byelaws and property tax requirements, while B Khata properties do not have legal standing and are recorded in a separate register for tax collection purposes. A Khata properties are eligible for loans, construction, renovation, and transfer of ownership; while B Khata properties are not eligible.
