
Work on a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at the Second Gate and a underpass at the Fourth Gate is set to begin soon, with a budget of ₹53.51 crore sanctioned for both projects, reourts the Sakal quoting a SWR official.
The ROB at the Second Gate has a completion timeline of 1.5 years, while the underpass at the Fourth Gate is expected to be completed within a year. Traffic diversions will be implemented for the duration of the construction, and soil testing has already begun at the Second Gate.
Second Gate: ROB Construction at ₹32.43 Crore
The Second Gate railway overbridge will be built at a cost of ₹32.43 crore, with the contract awarded to Swarna Techno Construction from Hubballi. The structure will be 405 meters long and 7.3 meters wide(two lane road). A request has been submitted to the district administration for traffic diversion, and work will commence once the new traffic plan is in place.
Fourth Gate: Subway Project at ₹21.08 Crore
A subway at the Fourth Gate has been approved with a budget of ₹21.08 crore. The contract has been awarded to S.V. Construction, Mangaluru. The subway will span 265 meters in length and 11.55 meters in width, with completion expected within a year.

Ongoing Preparations
Soil testing has commenced at the Second Gate, and the Belagavi Municipal Corporation has issued tenders to address utility shifting challenges before full-scale construction begins. This preparatory work is expected to take three months.
Recently, MP Jagadish Shettar confirmed approval for these infrastructure projects, aiming to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in Belagavi.
