Belagavi’s air connectivity continues to shrink as the summer flight schedule brings no new routes, confirming the loss of several key connections. Once a city with flights to over 15 destinations, Belagavi is now left with just six.

IndiGo Maintains Its Schedule

As a relief to passengers, IndiGo has retained all three of its existing routes from Belagavi. The airline will continue operating:

  • Bengaluru (2 flights daily – morning and evening)
  • Hyderabad (1 flight daily)
  • Delhi (1 flight daily)

These routes have remained stable, ensuring continued connectivity to major hubs, but no expansions have been announced.

Star Air’s Uncertain Future in Belagavi

Star Air, which once played a major role in expanding Belagavi’s air connectivity, has significantly reduced its operations. The airline will continue to serve:

  • Mumbai (Daily)
  • Ahmedabad (4 times a week – Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat)
  • Jaipur (3 times a week – Sun, Mon, Thu)
  • Nagpur (Only until April 15, as bookings beyond this date are unavailable)

The uncertainty surrounding the Nagpur route suggests a further reduction in Star Air’s presence after April 15.

Drastic Decline in Air Connectivity

The sharp reduction in flights has been particularly concerning for business travelers, students, and tourists who relied on direct connectivity to various cities. In April 2022, Belagavi was connected to 15 cities, largely through Star Air. However, with multiple route cancellations over the past two years, only six destinations remain accessible:

Belagavi’s Flight Connectivity After April 15, 2025:

✅ IndiGo:

  • Bengaluru (2 flights daily)
  • Hyderabad
  • Delhi

✅ Star Air:

  • Mumbai
  • Ahmedabad
  • Jaipur

From once boasting connections to Jodhpur, Indore, Pune, Nashik, Tirupati, Surat, and more, the airport has now seen a steady decline, with no signs of improvement.

Passengers Express Concern

The lack of new routes in the summer schedule and the gradual loss of connectivity have raised concerns among frequent travelers. Passengers have voiced frustration over the shrinking number of options, which forces them to rely on road or rail transport for destinations that were once accessible by air.

Many have also criticized Star Air’s inconsistent operations, particularly its history of discontinuing flights after UDAN subsidies ended. The airline has not explored new routes outside the government-backed scheme, further limiting connectivity.

What’s Next for Belagavi Airport?

While the current Summer schedule offers no new routes, aviation experts suggest that new flights could still be introduced in the summer schedule starting in March 2025. However, with Star Air’s uncertainty and no expansion plans announced by IndiGo, the future of Belagavi’s air connectivity remains unclear.

For now, travelers can only hope for new airlines or additional routes to restore the city’s once-thriving air network.
