NEET Exam Scam Spreads to Belagavi- Accused arrested

The NEET scam, causing a nationwide uproar, has now reached Belagavi. On Monday, the Belagavi Market Police arrested Telangana-based accused Aragonda Aravinda alias Arunkumar (43), seizing his computer, mobile, and cash worth Rs 1,30,41,884, about a case registered in 2023.

Aravinda allegedly cheated more than 10 people in Belagavi by renting a house in the Market police station area and contacting students who scored low in the NEET exam. He promised them success in the exam and a medical seat, exploiting their desperation.

This case highlights the arrest of an interstate fraudster with multiple cases against him in other states. The Belagavi police registered a case in 2023 and, after extensive efforts, managed to crack this intriguing case.

Aravinda targeted students nationwide who scored low marks in the NEET exam, fleeing with crores of rupees. He took around Rs 1,30,41,884 from over 10 victims, promising to clear the NEET exam and secure MBBS seats for them. A dedicated police team tracked down and arrested him in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The police seized Rs 12 lakh in cash and items worth Rs 12,66,900 from Aravinda, including large sums of money, a laptop, mobile phone, and computer.
