The State Government has announced that the Assembly’s Winter Session will be held at the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha, Belagavi, from December 9 to 20. The Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs confirmed that the proposal for convening the session has been forwarded to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot for approval.

Marking a historic milestone, the government is also planning events to commemorate 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s address at the 39th Congress session in Belagavi on December 26–27, 1924. In honor of this occasion, a Congress session is slated to be held in Belagavi on the same dates this year.

Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader and Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti recently held a preparatory meeting with officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the Winter Session and the commemorative events.

During a press conference, Khader emphasized the importance of high MLA attendance for this session. He assured that significant time would be devoted to discussing pressing issues of North Karnataka. “In the previous session, the participation of MLAs in debates was commendable, and we expect similar engagement this time,” he stated.

The government is organizing special awareness programs to enrich the experience for students visiting the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha during the session. Khader also highlighted the need to ensure seamless arrangements, including accommodation, meals, water, and refreshments, for ministers, MLAs, and support staff such as drivers, police personnel, and officials. Protest sites will also have adequate facilities to accommodate demonstrators without disrupting the proceedings.
