The lifeless body of a young man was discovered today in a field adjacent to the boundary wall of Belagavi Airport, near Honnihala and Mavinakatti villages under the jurisdiction of Marihal police station.
The deceased remains unidentified. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was killed by a blow to the head with a stone. Local farmers stumbled upon the body and immediately alerted the police.
Marihal police officers rushed to the scene, with Commissioner of Police Yada Martin Marbanyang personally visiting the site to oversee the investigation. Police officials have cordoned off the area and temporarily restricted vehicular movement on the Honnihala-Mavinakatti road.
A key belonging to a two-wheeler was recovered from the victim’s pocket. Authorities are examining whether a vehicle connected to the incident is located nearby. Further investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the crime.
