A 31-year-old identified as Praneetkumar, a resident of Dwarka Nagar, Tilakwadi, Belagavi sustained injuries in a gunfire attack near the Belagavi Milk Union Limited dairy at Anjenaya Nagar on Wednesday night around 9.30 to 10PM.
The incident occurred while Praneetkumar was standing near the dairy. According to eyewitness accounts, two individuals on a motorcycle fired two rounds before fleeing the scene. Praneetkumar was struck in the legs and was immediately admitted to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences District Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack stemmed from a personal feud, potentially linked to unresolved issues from a past relationship. Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang and senior officials visited the hospital to gather details from the injured and assess the situation.
The Mal-Maruti police are leading the investigation and are working to trace the assailants. Further details are awaited as the probe continues into this act of targeted violence.
