Jagadish Shettar, Member of Parliament for Belagavi, has again requested to extend the high-speed Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express from Dharwad to Belagavi. The proposal was discussed during a meeting with Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav at Railway Bhawan.
The Vande Bharat Express currently operates between Bengaluru and Dharwad, offering a faster and more comfortable travel experience for passengers. Following a successful trial run conducted in 2023, Shettar stressed the importance of extending this premium service to Belagavi, a rapidly growing hub for commerce and tourism.
The MP suggested that minor adjustments to train timings could enable the extension without affecting existing schedules. He underscored Belagavi’s rising prominence, emphasizing its increasing passenger demand and the need for better rail infrastructure to support its growth.
Shri Vaishnav responded positively to Shettar’s appeal, assuring that the Ministry would review the proposal and take steps toward implementing the extension in the near future.
