The installation of a 5G jammer at Hindalga Jail has sparked concerns among residents of nearby villages, including Vijayanagar, Ganeshpur, and Benakanahalli. The jammer, intended to curb the illegal use of mobile phones by prisoners, has inadvertently disrupted mobile networks, causing significant inconvenience to locals.
Government offices in the area are experiencing server downtimes due to the lack of network connectivity, while students preparing for exams are struggling without stable internet access. Residents have expressed frustration, stating that the measure, aimed at improving security within the jail, is instead creating problems for the general public.

The decision to install the jammer follows a serious security breach where a prisoner at Hindalga Jail allegedly issued a death threat to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. In response, jail authorities took steps to strengthen security and prevent unauthorized mobile usage among inmates.
However, affected residents are now urging prison officials to adjust the jammer’s frequency to minimize disruptions while maintaining security within the jail.
