A 19-year-old youth named Yashir of Ujwal Nagar Belagavi was caught throwing stone on the gate of the Ashwathama Temple in Pangul Galli, under the Market Police Station limits, late last night.
Eyewitnesses immediately restrained the accused, tying him to a pole before the police arrived. A team was dispatched promptly, and the individual was secured without further incident. Cases have been registered against him.
According to preliminary investigations, the youth has been undergoing psychiatric treatment for some time. He reportedly committed the act seeking “revenge” for an incident during Holi, where someone wore attire resembling a burqa.
Authorities are investigating the matter further while ensuring law and order is maintained.
